Morten Gallery represented the work of the late
Internationally acclaimed Painter/Printmaker
Geoff Morten and his wife, Ceramicist, Jenny
Morten RCA.
 
Jenny opened the gallery in August 2012 after
returning from California where the couple had
lived since 2003 and traded in St Just for approx 18 months. Her ceramics, draw inspiration
from the textures and colours of the rugged
coastal landscapes of her native Yorkshire,
California and Cornwall. She produces a range of
wheel thrown vibrantly coloured, functional,
porcelain bowls and vases alongside large
hand built one-off sculptural pieces.
Geoff’s colourful paintings and monoprints provided
the perfect backdrop for the ceramic works in this
small gallery. A prolific artist, Geoff explored
the universal themes of identity and isolation,
producing complex layered images, triggered by links
between every day events and past memories.
The gallery held a large inventory of Geoff’s
drawings, etchings, monoprints, oil on board and
oil on canvas. too numerous to have on display at
any one time. They were all available for private
viewing.
